Violet Hour 05:16
1. Day into night Just another night I always said I wanted some time to myself My mind is blue A dark and heavy blue I’ll just imagine I see the stars shining through But now it’s the end of the line No moon in sight, just a light fall shower In my mind it’s always the violet hour 2. Have you forgotten That stolen afternoon The sun was streaming through all that smoke in the room You said you loved me And I was not surprised You blew your cover with that look in your eyes But now it’s the end of the line What good is sweet without a little sour In my mind it’s always the violet hour I should’ve known a happy ending Was not in the stars, at least not for you and me But I thought we could be the Exception to the rule I know I’m a fool 3. Pour another round Just one more sip I’ve always loved the feel of a glass on my lips We almost made it Just you and I We almost had our chance to touch the sky But now it’s the end of the line Do we resign, or just keep on dreaming In my mind it’s always the violet hour

Nowhere Town 02:40
Eyes on the line Keep my eyes On the dotted yellow line Gonna leave this town behind Night, dark night Cut by my headlights Just like all those movie scenes This town put a dimmer on my dreams I’m not stopping ‘til I get to neon lights and the big hot sun I’m going straight to he top of the world My time in this nowhere mountain town is done Just passing through Like I do Sure as hell won’t stay too long By tomorrow I’ll be gone Eyes on the line Keep my eyes On the dotted yellow line Gonna leave this town behind I’m not stopping ‘til I get to neon lights and the big hot sun I’m going straight to he top of the world My time in this nowhere mountain town is done Just passing through Like I do Sure as hell won’t stay too long By tomorrow I’ll be gone

Sea Song 02:21
I’ve spent many hours of my life Voyaging off in my mind Fathoming fathoms below Dreaming of life on the sea Tossed by the wind and the waves I live for the thrill of each storm Enveloped by a calm night sky The blanket of stars keeps me warm And now I am here Upon deep blue waters Sailing through life on the arms of the sea The power of the sea has seduced me The sails of my heart are unfurled But just below each crashing wave Is a quiet and delicate world And now I am here Upon deep blue waters Now we are here We’re finally free Now we are here With all we could hope for Sailing through life on the arms of the sea

Spruce Tree 01:47
A Spruce Tree A creek bed A path into the woods Is someone there I hear you A barred owl Calling Who Who cooks for you Who cooks Who cooks for you all

Come on wheel of fortune Gonna give you one more spin Maybe this time will be my big win Chasing gold and rainbows Is wasting my time again But there’s more than one way To cash in I’m tired of waiting for the good life Gonna grab the reins today Then I’ll see to it that things Go my way I saw that glimmer on the horizon It used to seem so far away I think it’s finally my Lucky day
9.
Julep 01:58
I never was the girl next door With eyes like these, And thighs like these, I was the hometown carnivore Get me a drink But don’t be long These gin martinis make me wild as the Amazon I will admit that I’m a tease But I’m not easy Only the best can pass my test and even then There’s not a guarantee ‘f’ya wanna get inside my . . . heart It takes a real man A man’s man Who’s handy with his gun And when he shoots he always hits his mark Play your cards right You can’t go wrong Just stir me up and you’ll be sippin at my Julep ‘til dawn

1. This peach is ripe And waiting to be picked Don’t leave me hangin’ on this tree This appetite Has a hankerin’ for a peach And baby, you’re the perfect peach for me Are you sayin’ Yes, I’m sayin’ We’re the ones that we’ve been waitin’ for We don’t have to wait around anymore 2. This kettle’s hot I’m steamin’ up the place Don’t leave me whistlin’ off key This whistle’s wet I’ll pour you into my cup ‘Cause baby, you’re my perfect cup of tea Are you sayin’ Yes, I’m sayin’ We’re the ones that we’ve been waitin’ for We don’t have to wait around anymore I like this rhyme scheme Everything rhymes all the time theme No more of this Tomato, tomahta, Potato, frittata What we’ve got is a fine thing 3. This engine’s revved Come take me for a spin Don’t leave me idlin’ on the street I’ve got the keys I’ll take you out on the town ‘Cause you’re the perfect set of wheels for me Are you sayin’ Yes, I’m sayin’ We’re the ones that we’ve been waitin’ for We don’t have to wait around anymore 4. This flower’s in bloom Put me in your bouquet Don’t let this blossom go to seed I’d say this room Could use some sprucin’ up And you’re the splash of color that it needs Are you sayin’ Yes, I’m sayin’ We’re the ones that we’ve been waitin’ for We don’t have to wait around anymore No, we don’t have to wait around anymore

Water rushes all around me In the distance something’s burning The falls are closer They thunder louder Someone’s standing on the highway In the distance bells are ringing The falls are closer They thunder louder Water rushes all around me Sun is setting in the distance Now the sky Is cast in gold Everything’s suspended Now I can let go Over the edge in my dream The view from up here Goes on forever it seems Every detail is suddenly clear

about

“A marvelous, maddening feast of creativity you’d be a fool to miss.” -- Seattle Magazine

Since 2009, Seattle's Café Nordo has been transforming both food and theatre, one show at a time, to rapturous reviews and bedazzled audiences. Popping up for limited runs in chocolate factories, vintage performance halls, and other eclectic venues, Café Nordo transforms each space into a cutting-edge short-term restaurant where the menu is tightly interwoven with live performance and bold storytelling.

Every show has had a noteworthy constant: Seattle composer and musician Annastasia Workman, who writes all the music for all the shows and plays live at every performance. Accompanied by the Café Nordo House Band and a rotating line-up of talented musicians, Workman smoothly transitions from sultry '30s torch songs to swinging '60s jet-age romps and beyond as the stories and the cuisine demand.

For this album, Annastasia and her collaborators ventured into the studio to craft fourteen impeccable recordings of Café Nordo's greatest songs. This is music for dining, Café Nordo style.
